Danns the Man as Hartlepool United make a signing

Hartlepool United have signed Blackburn Rovers midfielder Neil Danns on loan, the club has announced. Danns, who played against us earlier this season while on loan at Blackpool, goes straight into the squad for the game against QPR.

21 year old Danns played against Pools in our 4-0 defeat at Blackpool earlier this season - at the time he was on loan, and certainly impressed against Pools, showing some powerful running from the midfield. Overall he played 15 games for the Seasiders, scoring twice but also being dismissed twice before being recalled to Blackburn.

This season he's made just one sub appearance for the Ewood Park club, in their 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bolton; however last season he did start a few games, including one game in the Premiership and the first leg of their UEFA Cup tie against CSKA Sofia.

Danns had made a reasonable impression at Blackpool, mainly playing in central midfield - and apparently he's in line to start in that position tomorrow, with Richie Humphreys moving back out wide.

No news on whether this may be the prelude to a permanent signing, but Cooper has made sure that he's got plenty of cover while Gavin Strachan recovers from his knee injury.

Danns in the latest of a number of Blackburn players to have joined Pools over the last few years: Tony Williams most notably, but also Andy McAvoy and Lee Fitzpatrick. Maybe our former manager Alan Murray - assistant to Graeme Souness at Ewood Park - is directing them to us?
