Swede arrives on trial

It's that time of year when the Nordic seasons have ended, and so Pools are taking the opportunity to look at a striker from Sweden. He's been training with the club since arriving in England last week, and his name is Olle Kullinger.

Olle Kullinger has until recently been with Swedish side Halmstads BK, who finished as runners-up in the Swedish League to Malmo. The season has just finished, and Malmo pipped Halmstad on the last day of the season. Kullinger was released after scoring five goals in 20 appearances (and 10 in 41 for Halmstads BK overall) and has come over to the UK to try and earn a deal.

Kullinger is no raw recruit - he's 30, and has played in the Swedish Leagues for some time. At 6'1" and just over 12st, he's maybe not quite the giant that some seem to think we need but may prove to have a bit more physical presence than we currently have. While his record at Halmstads may seem a little modest, for his previous club he did manage 16 goals in a (short) season in the Swedish 2nd Division.

He's been on trial at Pools since arriving from Copenhagen since Thursday, and the fact that Pools have announced his presence on their website may mean that he is going to get an extended trial period in the way that Konstantopoulos and Porter did last season.
