Chart Dreams move closer for Poolie Pride

"And now on Top of the Pops, Poolie Pride!" That dream is still alive, after the sales figures for the Monkey Hargerz CD proved good enough to suggest that the Top 20 is still possible.

So is Madonna getting worried? Is the reason why she's so actively promoting her single at the moment that she doesn't want to be beaten by Poolie Pride? Well, probably not but the news for the record sales is definately highly encouraging.

With over 1000 copies of the CD sold on Monday alone - thanks in no small part to Richie Humphreys dedication in signing about 500 copies at Asda - the platform has been set. The indications at midweek are that the single is in with a very good chance of being in the top 20, being currently ranked at 19 for the week so far. With another signing on Thursday (this time Dimi and Adam Boyd) looking set to provide another sales boost there's likely to be a lot of eager ears listening to the chart rundown on Sunday.

Amidst all this positivity though, there's a cautionary note for anyone that's still to buy the record. While the temptation may be there to buy copies for every friend and relative you can think of, multiple purchases in one go could actually count against the aim of a high chart position: it seems the regulations in place to prevent "Chart Hyping" mean that large multiple purchases may be flagged up and not included. So keep on buying that CD, just not half a dozen at once!
