Michael Schumacher has praised Felipe Massa for his work so far at Ferrari and believes that people are expecting too much from him so early on in his career at the Scuderia. Schumacher also is possibly indicating that he would like to race alongside Massa next season rather than Raikkonen. This is what Michael had to say about Felipe:
"Many people make the error of comparing Massa to what Barrichello and Irvine did when they had already been racing for Ferrari for a long time. You need to let people have time to learn. I think Felipe is doing a good job and you can't expect someone to just jump inside a car and beat everyone immediately."
It has been suggested that Schumacher would not want to race alongside Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari in 2007, mainly because the Finn would not be willing to play second fidle to Michael and might beat Schumacher too often for the German's taste. This would be supported by Schumacher's comments in regards to Massa as obviously Felipe is willing to be the number two driver at Ferrari and this works well for Schumacher's title chances. It will certainly be interesting to see if Raikkonen does sign for Ferrari, whether or not Schumacher will continue with the Scuderia. Though with increasing rumours of Raikkonen signing for Renault, Schumacher may not have to worry.
