Germans In
The German
Grand Prix

Although Germans have been competing in the German GP from the very first German GP in 1951, where Paul Pietsch driving an Alfa crashed out after qualifying 7th on the grid, it was not until Michael won the German GP in 1995 for Benetton-Renault that a German won his home race. Michael went onto win it for Ferrari in 2002 and 2004.

Germans winning the German GP remain a Schumacher story with brother Ralf winning it in 2001 for Williams BMW.

No one has won the German GP more than 3 times and these are Fangio, Stewart, Piquet, Senna and Michael.

If Michael wins on Sunday he will be the first F1 driver to notch up 4 wins at the German GP and Ferrari would get its 20th German GP win. There will be four German racers in this year's race, the Schumacher brothers alongside Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg. Both Rosberg and Heidfeld will be going for their first ever victory this weekend.
