Excited To
Join Ferrari

Kimi Raikkonen is very excited, at least as excited as he gets, to join the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team. It was widely believed that Kimi had signed a contract with Ferrari quite some time ago, but it was finally confirmed after Sunday's Italian Grand Prix. This is what the Finn had to say about racing for the Scuderia in 2007:

"I expected to win the title before now, for it to have happened, already, but you never know what will happen and hopefully we can do it next year. But I know we all need to work as hard as we can and I have full confidence that the team will give me a very good car. I am happy to join the team with the history and all the great things. I want to finish this year as best as I can and see what happens next year.

I guess there are many reasons but I have been five years in McLaren, they are a great team and nice people but in the end I wanted something else. There were only two choices, to stay at McLaren or choose Ferrari.

I wanted to go there one day, this was the best moment, and there will be people I miss at McLaren but that is the way it goes."

With Schumacher retiring at the end of 2006, Kimi Raikkonen is without a doubt the best racer to continue on the winning legacy of Ferrari. Some Tifosi are upset about the signing of Raikkonen, though this is likely due to the emotional blow of losing Michael Schumacher. Kimi is the best choice of a driver for Ferrari and 2007 will certainly show this.
