Problem

Former Ferrari Technical Director Ross Brawn does not believe that Ferrari's longer than average wheelbase will cause any problems for the team in Monaco. Brawn is certain that the numerous aerodynamice advantages of the long wheelbase, will overcome the trouble of a longer turning radius. This is what Ross had to say:

"I know why they went the longer wheelbase route and it was to do with getting the right weight distribution first and then being able to have the longer wheelbase to generate some aerodynamic advantages. And at Monaco any aerodynamic advantage is still going to be beneficial. I would be amazed if it proves detrimental."

Ross is quite right to point out that the longer wheelbase of the F2007 allows for better aerodynamics. It is also true that aerodynamics are extremely important in Monaco. Nothing however can overcome the fact that the Ferrari is slower in turning. This will be trouble for Ferrari and hopefully they can reclaim any time lost with the superior aerodynamics. Unfortunately, Ferrari does seem to be losing out to McLaren in free practice for the Grand Prix.
