The first part of the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team's testing schedule involved Rubens Barrichello in an F2005 at the Fiorano Circuit. The Brazilian driver worked on Bridgestone tyre development, which is very important for the team because it appears that the tyres are the weakest part of the team. Barrichello completed 180 laps, with a fastest time of 0'57.904.

Barrichello will continue testing tomorrow at the Mugello circuit, alongside Ferrari third driver, Luca Badoer.
