Ferrari was horribly out mathced in Turkey today as their Bridgetone tyres had absolutely no grip at all. Rubens Barrichello finished way down in 10th as Michael Schumacher retired from the Grand Prix, twice.

Michael Schumacher
Race: DNF

Ferrari was way off the pace all weekend in Turkey, and the race was certainly no better. Michael Schumacher started second last in the Grand Prix after a spin in qualifying caused by extemely poor grip from Bridgestone. The race started badly for Schumacher as he hit debris from Felipe Massa heading off the track. Michael then began moving up the field, all the way to 11th. Sadly, this was as far as he would get as he and Mark Webber had a coming together, eventually resulting in Schumacher ending his race. More on this collision soon. Michael then returned to the track after many laps in the pits. This was only to have a better qualifying spot for the next Grand Prix as he retired after he couldn't make up any more position. Here is what the 7-Time World Champion had to say about his race in Turkey:

"We have not been quick enough all weekend. In fact, back on Friday it was clear we were in a very difficult situation. Even before the start, I did not expect to get any points and that is how it turned out. As regards the incident with Webber, I saw him closing on me and he moved to the right. As I began to brake, I could no longer see him and, when I was in mid-corner, I felt a bang at the back as he hit me with his nose. He was one lap down, so I don’t understand why he tried this move. After the collision, there was something wrong with the car, so I went into the pits where the mechanics changed the power steering incredibly quickly. I went back out on track so as not to have to be first out in qualifying in Monza. At least this worked out, as I made up three places."

Rubens Barrichello
Race: 10th + 1 Lap

Rubens Barrichello also suffered from extremly poorly suited Bridgestone tyres. Unlike Michael, Rubens did not at all factor in this Grand Prix as he just cruised around the circuit. Barrichello took it easy in the race because if he had have pushed his Bridgestone tyres would have been unable to handle the pressure. Here is what the Brazilian had to say about his lackluster drive:

"This was a very, very tough race. I drove flat out from the start, but it had been obvious that we lacked performance since we started on Friday. After Hungary, it is disappointing to see us back in a situation like this. We had no grip and I we clearly made the wrong choice in terms of the tyres we brought to Turkey. Tenth place is not what we would have wanted in this inaugural Turkish race. We must keep on working and try and do better."

Ross Brawn
Technical Director

Ferrari's Technical Director Ross Brawn, was certainly dissapointed with Ferrari's results. Here is what Ross had to say about the Turkish Grand Prix:

"This was an extremely disappointing race. Michael’s accident looked a bit unnecessary, given that Webber was one lap down. We repaired the car to get back on track to get the best possible qualifying position for Monza. Rubens had a fairly dull race with not much to say about it. His car was okay, apart from a bit too much understeer. He just lacked pace."
