Felipe Massa has given his support to the new regulations for 2006, especially the all new qualifying system. Mass believes this new type of qualifying will showcase driver talent well and is wha the sport needs: "The new qualifying format is a positive move. For the first two runs at least, the car can run empty, with the minimum amount of fuel on board. This is every driver's dream." The new Ferrari driver is also very excited about racing with the new tyre and engine regulations in place: "I think that reintroducing tyre changes during races will be useful, above all regarding safety, especially considering the problems of last year. Similarly, limiting the performance with the new V8 engines is a good thing. Each year we have been seeing an increase in power that has been difficult to control." The young Brazilian does not however think that these new rules will change the sport significantly or hurt thr racing action: "There shouldn't be much change in driving. Probably the speed in taking curves will be lower but we may brake later and so the style we have will be more or less the same. What will certainly change is the work of the engineers who will have to find the right balance for the car as the engines will be lighter." |
