Badoer Could Have Replaced Rubens

Luca Badoer has admitted that he, not Felipe Massa could have replaced Rubens Barrichello at Ferrari. Badoer is entering his ninth year as the Scuderia's test driver and it seems that this is all he will ever be in Formula 1 from now on. Here is what Luca had to say about missing out on a race seat at Ferrari, again:

"I was on the list of drivers to replace Barrichello. They chose Felipe in the end. It would have been my dream to race, but it is the team's decision that I accept. If I wouldn't have accepted this I would have left the team."

The Italian's racing career has yielded little success and numerous dissapointments. Badoer was slotted to replace Michael Schumacher after he was injured in 1997 but Ferrari chose Mika Salo instead. Luca thought this was his only chance to race for a top team and after he was rejected, he was very dissapointed. One can just assume how upset he is after missing out on a full season of racing after giving Ferrari so much commitment.
