What's Wrong With The New Ferrari?

After cutting their testing in Bahrain short due to technical issues, fans are left wondering what is wrong with the 248 F1? Ferrari will apparently move to the Mugello circuit as it is closer to their HQ, in case they need replacement parts, something they ran out of in Bahrain.

What does this mean though? Is Ferrari set for another season like 2005 or perhaps even worse? Their numerous mechanical troubles would suggest such a thing but should the Tifosi worry? Here is what Ross Brawn had to say about Ferrari's troubles in Bahrain with the 248 F1:

"It is not perfect. The car's not bad, the car is working well, but it's not as reliable as I would hope at the moment.

The competition is so strong, they have become so reliable, that you really have to have both reliability and pace. Even though we have a new engine formula this year, you can see from testing that the general levels of reliability are good.

I'm sure we'll see a few more failures than perhaps has been normal, but there's three or four teams out there that are very strong in performance and are going to finish races. So you've got to have both."

Michael Schumacher who's running in the 248 F1 has been plagued by numerous technical malfunctions has also attempted to lessen worries about major troubles for Ferrari this season:

"That’s the way it goes during tests, it’s a part of it."

Schumacher does make an excellent point. Ferrari want to experience as many technical problems in testing as possible as then they can work to fix the issues. Then during the actual Grand Prix, they will have more reassurance that their car will be reliable.

Considering this, the Tifosi must not lose faith in their team. Ferrari will undoubtedly work to their maximum potential to recapture their titles in 2006.
