2005 World Champion Fernando Alonso admits that he is very worried about what Ferrari can do in San Marino. Alonso believes that this may very well be the Scuderia's strongest race of the season and that he may have to settle for second place. This is what the early Championship leader had to say about the Grand Prix at Imola this weekend:
"I think all the weekends are important but here for Ferrari is a good opportunity. If they can win one race this season it will be this one.
For sure they have a lot of optimism for this race but we got 10 points in Australia so for me in the championship it would not be a big change. I prefer to finish second or third here and win at the Nurburgring again."
The San Marino Grand Prix was the race last year which saw Ferrari be most competitive, with Schumacher charging through the field to battle with Alonso. For several laps, Michael attempted to get around Alonso, but in the end Fernando held on to win. Regardless of the outcome, last season's race was extremely exciting for the Tifosi, in a very dissapointing year.
Hopefully with all of the Scuderia's various improvements on the 248 F1, Ferrari will indeed be able to fight for victory here in San Marino.
