The Rules Were Changed To Help Ferrari

McLaren's Managing Director Martin Whitmarsh claims that the rules were changed in 2006 to help Ferrari return to the top. Whitmarsh believes this is why the Scuderia was strong at Imola, but he also thinks that they may not be as quick for the rest of the season. Speaking on Ferrari's apparent turn-around this season, Martin Whitmarsh had this to say:

"We'll see now at Nurburgring and Barcelona where Ferrari are.

Are Ferrari considerably stronger this year than last? Yes. Are Bridgestone stronger? Absolutely, the rules were changed to allow them to be so."

Whitmarsh may be correct that the rules have changed in a way favorable to Ferrari, though one must wonder what he would be saying if Ferrari was not winning. Well, obviously he wouldn't be saying anything. It is always the case that other teams complain as much as possible about Ferrari when they are winning, perhaps they should grow-up and stop whinning.
