Michael Schumacher's Manager, Willi Weber has leapt to the defence of his driver, stating that the Stewards who penalised Schumacher at Monaco were biased. Weber points out that the Steward who was most vocal about the incident, was Spanish, as is World Champion, Fernando Alonso. This is what he said about the Steward, Joaquin Verdegay and the incident itself:

"The man is Spanish, just like Alonso. It wasn't very smart to spread his personal opinion. You might as well ask the wolf how Little Red Riding Hood is doing lately.

Of course he braked harder, he had to! When you make a mistake and lose control you will brake a lot harder than you do normally. This evidence is a complete joke. None of these three Stewards sat in the car, it was Michael who sat there."

Weber makes an interesting point about the nationality of the race Steward, it is quite possible that his decision was impacted by his compassion for country-man Fernando Alonso. However, it must be pointed out that the term is "Race Stewards" as there is more than one, Verdegay was not the only one responsible for the decision.
