Report: Somerset vs Durham Day 3
By Jon Steer
April 25 2003
Again the rain washed out the morning sessiosn, today play finally started at 4.30pm. Very soon after the start Durham were in trouble and only managed to last little more than half an hour. Will a lead of 194 be enough?
Just when we needed Law and Andy Pratt to continue their partnership and give us the best possible lead they are both out quickly. Law was out without adding to the overnight score. Pratt and Philips added an extra 12 runs before 3 wickets fell for no runs leaving Durham on 165-9.
Javaghal Srinath scored 13 from just 15 balls to push the lead close to 200 before Harmy was out for 2, caught behing off the bowling of Francis.
That final partnership, although small, could be crucial. Somerset failed in their run chase at Bristol earlier in the week by just nine runs. Lets hope that Harmy and Srinath get stuck into them tonight and cause a few problems.
Somerset need the highest score of the match to win and we don't often see that in the fourth innings so perhaps a winning start is still possible for Durham.
