Harmison gets one day call up

As expected, Steve Harmsison has been included in the One Day International squad to face the West Indies after the current test series. The only concern that may have altered this decision was whether it would prove to be too much cricket for Steve.

Steve has showed that his fitness has come along way since his injuries before Christmas but the extra travelling that is involved in a seven match ODI series must be a concern.

Another concern is that the home series with New Zealand begins with the first test on 20th May, just two weeks after the end of the ODI series with the West Indies.

If Steve is retained in the ODI and Test squads for the whole of the Summer he may not play a single match for Durham this season. The international fixture list is extensive with seven tests and up to ten one day matches not including the champions trophy in September.

With Paul Collingwood also a regular in the ODI squad and poised to become a regular in test squad this could be a double blow for Durham CCC.
