Former St. Mirren goalkeeper John Hillcoat joined the Blues yesterday in a one year deal. The vastly experienced player will likely make his debut in Saturday's match against Airdrie United.

McCulloch Replaced

Billy McLaren vented his anger last week after the appalling loss at the hands of Cowdenbeath, and placing much of the blame on the shoulders of new goalkeeper Willie McCulloch.

Yesterday McLaren announced that he had signed the veteran goalkeeper John Hillcoat as a replacement for McCulloch. It is unclear of McCulloch's future with the club at this time. Hillcoat had been hoping to secure a contract with Ayr United, but instead settled for a one year deal with the Blues.

John Hillcoat is 31 years-old and is 5'11.5" tall goalkeeper, who most recently played for Dumbarton. His previous teams have also included Queen of the South, Hamilton Academicals (three times), Morton, Clydebank, Partick Thistle and St. Mirren. He has worked with Billy McLaren at Hamilton, so he should be acquainted with the antics of the manager!.

McCulloch - was he given an opportunity to impress? Hillcoat - brings a wealth of experience to the team, but is he past it?
