Blues Sink Warrior: Stranraer 1 Stenhousemuir 0

Stranraer came away with three points via Ian Harty's 87th minute strike. This made it 100% certain that Stranraer would be playing second division football and Stenny playing 3rd Division football next season.

Before the game got under way. Ian Harty received his trophy for being top scorer and Dexi Wingate got two trophies for player of the season and the fans favourite.

Stranraer started off badly. A back-pass was played back to Mark McGeown who sliced his clearance. Thankfully Allan Jenkins was on hand to clear the danger.

Stranraer's first decent attack of the match was a good solo effort by George Shaw. A swift pass by the Stranraer midfield allowed Shaw to dribbled his way into the box, where he was blatantly pushed in the back by Michael Stone. The Blues appealed for a penalty but all protests were waved away be referee Eddie Mack.

However, the best effort of the half fell to Stenhousemuir. A corner was swung in and Michael Stone diverted the ball goal-bound but Alex Grace was excellently placed on the far post to head the ball to safety.

With the clock ticking down, Paul Harvey (Ex-Queens) cut inside Allan Jenkins and hit a fierce, rising shot which cannoned off the crossbar with Mark McGeown clawing fresh air.

The second half started slowly but was brought alife with a piece of magic and individual skill. Ian Harty turned three Stenny defenders inside out, before he got to the byline where he crossed the ball for George Shaw. Shaw's shot was eventually blocked with a combination of keeper and defender.

A few minutes later it was again Shaw who had a chance to open the scoring. The forward was put clean through on goal and his left foot shot was well saved by Andrew Carlin between the sticks.

Ian Harty was making this look like a training session. He coolly nut medged Des McKeown (Ex Queens) and crosses the ball to his strike partner, Shaw, who then hit a screaming shot goalward. Andrew Carlin again produced a fantastic save to deny the Stranraer forward.

By now Stranraer were dominating. Fraser Wright ran with the ball down the wing and crossed it before he reached the byline. The ball found Alex Grace who should of scored but he somehow scuffed his shot wide.

To the relief of the Stranraer fans Ian Harty broke the deadlock on 87 minutes. Stevie Aitken faked a shot and instead played it Ian Harty who coolly shot the ball into the far corner of the net with the aid off a very slight deflection.

Overall Summary- Stranraer controlled the game, tempo and the midfield. It could have been 4 or 5 if George Shaw had taken all his chances. No disrespect to him because he played very well.

Stranraer MOM- Ian Harty is my choice. He scored the winner this week. He ran his heart out today and he also setup loads of other openings as well. Dexi Wingate gets a mention as he played yet another solid game- just as he has been doing all season.
