Bolton Wanderers secure at least another season of Premiership football at the Reebok without kicking a ball thanks to a 1-0 victory from local rivals Manchester United away to relegation rivals Ipswich Town.

A controversial penalty from Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy on the stroke of half time kept United in the title race with a 1-0 win and meant that Ipswich can't catch Bolton as they are four points behind with only one game remaining. With only relegation place unfilled after the relegation of Leicester City and Derby County it meant Bolton were safe in the Premiership for at least another season.
