Holden signs for Oldham

Young Wanderers defender Dean Holden has signed for Second Division neighbours Oldham Athletic without a fee initially changing hands.

Holden, who burst onto the scene as a midfielder in 1999, completed the formalities of the deal today with delighted Latics manager Mick Wadsworth.
Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce said that Holden needed first team football at his age and was happy for him to leave for nothing to help him progress. However, if Holden is a success at Oldham and is sold to a big club for a large sum of money, Bolton will receive a percentage of the transfer fee as part of the deal.
