Full-back Louis Brown seals Newcastle Falcons move

  Thursday 27 April 2023 Coventry full-back Louis Brown says he is relishing the opportunity to test himself at the top level after signing a two-year deal with Newcastle Falcons. The 25-year-old has been a mainstay of a Coventry side currently placed third in the Championship with 16 wins and one draw from their 21 games, making 43 appearances during his three seasons in the West Midlands.  

“First and foremost, I’m really looking forward to the move and I’m excited about being a Newcastle Falcons player,” said Brown.

“I’ve had three good seasons at Coventry which I’ve really enjoyed, and I’m ready to take on this new challenge of proving myself at the top level. That’s where I ultimately want to be, and I’ve only heard good things about the club and the city.”

Explaining his rugby journey, Louis (pronounced ‘Lew-ee’) said: “I came from a rugby league background originally, where I played for Yorkshire county and Featherstone Rovers as my club. 

“I was just starting to break into their first-team stuff when I went over to play rugby union with Yorkshire Carnegie, and earned a senior academy contract there as well as playing England Counties Under-18s. 

“I made my first team debut for them as an 18-year-old against London Irish, and after two seasons in the senior side there they had some financial issues which meant I went to Old Elthamians in National One for six months.

“Coventry picked me up from there two games before Covid came along.......
