Andy Powell - the rumour

Andy Powell for Wasps - or so the rumour goes. Will he - won't he - can we afford him - where will he play? Answers on a postcard please.
I'm sure there will be a vigourous discussion on the chat pages about the benefits of taking in a Lions backrow rather than a class 10 to replace the departing Cipriani.
But since the retirement of Lawrence, we have been a little lacking in this department - John hart is a good club player, Dan Ward-Smith had a season hindered by injury, but neither of these really lit up the park, and one ancient worthy has made the point that Wasps are at their best when they get over the gain line quickly and have defences retreating.
Powell seems to be a one-trick-pony, but it could be the trick we need.

I'm keeping everything crossed that its true. I would only temper this with the fact that i hope its not at the expense of a good number 10.
Think this could be our signing of the season. He will want to impress Mr SE and in a new environment he might redisover his old form.
With my 50% taff blood, I'm happy to welcome him. No doubt i will be shot down, but the welsh and wasps go well. Brooster has been a good signing, a certain Mr Howley and now Powell.

Potentially an excellent signing (if true). Welcome Andy and good luck for the season.

He will impress at the start, (as per his last four clubs,) before eventually losing interest. They don't call him Powell "the Skip," for nothing. (Family trade being right up his street.)

The form that got him into the Welsh squad was not that uniquely of a bosher. He has it in him to be more than that, hopefully this is reversible and he will be an all round strong man for us, but one with a little more variety than the Powell of the 2009 six nations.

If I was a Marketing Director from Cadburys I would ask if I could sponsor him for the season. It is an admans dream come true. They could have pictures on the front of golf magazines of him driving a buggie while eating a Yorkie or some such chocie feast.

Keith, only one problem - Cadbury don't make Yorkie.
As an ex Mars man, it would have to be a king size Snickers!!!

And he is banned from driving... although technically a golf club isn't a public road.

David
Agreed. A golf club is not a public road, it's something you hit a golf ball with.
