Mutterings of a lifelong Wasp – The Song

Just reading the Drunken Wasps site I see lots of prep is being made for the BIG DAY !!! We have had many big days, but in the context of the history of Wasps, May 5th could be the biggest yet.

Rob writes:

I have always wanted to get the crowd singing the “Players Victory” song and never managed to make it happen. I will tell the story of where this and Once a Wasp…. originated from in the next installment of my mutterings.

Without trying to pre-empt the result, it would be great, should we beat Newcastle and avoid relegation, if the stadium would echo to the sounds of the famous song.  For those unfamiliar with the words, only sung after a win, they are:

It would be great to get this going on the day. Let's hope for a win and a rousing rendition.

To Rob, Ali, KevintheB, Pete N, Nigel M...anyone who reads this who can influence the club....

I think (should we indeed beat falcons - touch wood, fingers crossed etc) it would be great to have the crowd led in a rendition of this by the players - both former who are attending & present - on the pitch at the end (perhaps once falcons players & fans have had a chance to depart - we've never been sore losers or ungracious winners, I'd hate to start now).

Id love to have a more vocal crowd, if it was started id sing along for sure.

I am an Atheist too but it is a great song and I would be happy to adopt it and, indeed, sing it, with Theists as well as anyone taking Pascal's Wager.

it has been a long time vicotry song, but thinking it should be used as supporters anthem, we can give the players allez, allez, allez.
