Preview: Wasps v Worcester

London Wasps welcome Worcester on Saturday in a bottom of the table clash. After just three games this season both teams have a tinge of desperation in their displays. Will Wasps shake off their autumnal torpor or countinue to plumb the depths of despond?

When Saturday comes one of these teams must take the game by the bootstraps, cut out the mistakes and grind down the opposition.

Wasps seem to have got left in the temporary changing rooms at Twickenham. Since heading Halrequins until five minutes from the death, the screw has failed to turn for a full 80 minutes.

Granted a very close shave with the posts with the final kick of that match might have changed this weekend's scenario.  However, much like the two prior seasons, Wasps have rarely managed to put in a complete performance.

Two road games on and two forlorn pushes for a late win later, Wasps season seems to be in jeopardy. Gone is last year's commanding strike running.

Back to the bad old days when wingers barely receive the ball as injuries take their toll. Playing the referee also seems to have taken a back seat as penaltis conceded on the back foot land Wasps in deep trouble before the comebacks begin.

Try scoring, at least, is not at issue. The pack is performing better than our championship years, yet the confidence to go toe-to-toe for a full match isn't quite there.

Enter stage left old Wasp Dean Ryan's band of men from the mid west. Having signed a few of their players over the close season, Wasps should have enough nous to win at the death. Unleash the backs and Wasps might just ease out to a ten point victory. The key to the match is strength in depth. Which team has the will and the way?
