Break Needed

Wasps can't buy a win at the moment and it's all getting a bit tense.  As a result Lee Blaskett has given the squad three days off to recover from the 37-20 defeat by leaders Bristol and to clear their heads.

His team got off to a great start with Jimmy Gopperth's penalty enable him to reach 1,000 points for the club.

Things got better with Vailanu marking his return with a try on the quarter hour, but indiscipline once again cost us as Eden struck three penalties and a Pitau try gave  the hosts a 16-13 lead at the break.

When training does resume drills need to include how to react when a penalty kick hits a post. It happened several times with Bears quickest to react when Eden hit the upright shortly after the restart - Joyce eventually going over.

It was competitive right until  the closing stages when Adeolokun crossed in the corner with ten minutes to go. However, Jos Bassett was on the shoulder of a Porter snipe to speed over to bring the score to 30-20

There were hopes that another score for Wasps would produce a deserved bonus point. Instead, it was Bears who got their own try bonus pint with replacement Vui going in under the posts to send his side way clear at the top.

Another frustrating night for Lee Blackett who told the media: " I thought we were in the game -we started the game really well.

"When things aren't going your way you have things like them hitting the woodwork and then scoring. I thought that was a vital game-changing moment.

"There were certain aspects that we improved on but there are other things we must work on. There's a lot of boys very frustrated in the dressing room."
