Bad Luck Continues

Bad news from the warm-up games which means we will continue to have to do without Alfie Barbeary and have now also lost Charlie Atkinson

Alfie is being teared for a hamstring tear which could mean  another six weeks out. He didn't get a run out aganst Cov - fly half Charlie did but did last beyond the first half after injuring a knee.

We were hoping that our luck would turn during the close season, however we go into the new campaign without locks Joe Willis and Joe Launchbury (who may both be out until  the end of the year.)

Fortunate that in a 13 team league we are the ones to sit it out this first weekend.

Here’s where we stand:

- Atkinson (knee): unknown return
- Barbeary (hamstring): mid-December
- Gaskell (back): end-October
- Hougaard (shoulder): unknown return
- Launchbury (knee): end-December
- Le Bourgeois (quad): unknown return
- Mills (foot): end-December
- Odogwu (knee): February
- Scholtz (illness): unknown return
- Vukasinovic (achillies): unknown return
- West (knee): should be back training this week
- J Willis (knee): end-December
- Young (rib): unknown return

That’s almost a third (29% to be exact) of the senior squad out injured.

Positive news is that Carr completes his quarantine tomorrow and the club just announced the short term signing of lock Sebastian de Chaves to cover for Launchbury, Gaskell & Vukasinovic. I suspect Blackett may also be looking for short term cover for 10 & 12.
