Poor Start

A poor first half at Bristol cost Wasps dearly as we head towards our blank weekend courtesy of the uneven numbers in the Premiership.

However, the long rest may give some of the players a chace to recharge their batteries and for the coaches to work on a few issues including how not to concede three early tries. It was a mountain we couldn't climb as we eventually went down 31-19.

It led Lee Blackett to say:"We had more of the game than Bristol in terms of possession. It was a game we should have won, but for the second week in a row we paid for turnovers. We coughed up too much ball and that is something we have to put right.

"A positive was that we have some big players back for the run-in. Jack Willis made his first start since the beginning of last year and we gave him an hour.  He played really well in the first-half and gave us go forward. We created far more clear-cut chances than Bristol but we lost the ball too often at the breakdown and  did not convert many into tries."

For the record, Harry Thacker, Antoine Frisch and Niyi Adeolokun scoreed for Bears in theri dram start with Gabriel Oghre corssing for Wasps to make it 21-7 at half-time.

Alapati Leiua then got Bristol a bonus point with  Marcus Watson's try too late to spark  a fightback.
