While news of Wasps RFC's plan to relocate to the outskirts of Sevenoaks in Kent remains at a tantalising point between conception and rebirth, Blackheath FC goes into its 167th season as master of its home, Well Hall in Eltham. Blackheath FC moved to the ground in 2016.
Blackheath's Managing Director, Russell Ticehurst and a group of club member's spent the last five years on the deal to buy the ground from University of Greenwich. It is the first time that the oldest rugby club in the world has owned its home. Ticehurst, who played alongside Mike Friday in the 1990s, looks forward to securing Blackheath's future.
Meanwhile, back in Acton, Wasps FC looks forward to welcoming members and guests to its 158th season. The pitches are renovated and the club welcomes volunteers to help freshen up the facilities: All our members, local residents, and corporate teams to our Volunteer Days on the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th of August!
This is a perfect chance to give back, meet new people, and help enhance our community sports club. We have a variety of tasks to be done, including cleaning, painting, weeding/gardening, moving, sanding, and other DIY jobs. If you have specialized skills in trades, design, or engineering, your expertise would be incredibly valuable!
Dates: 8th - 11th August

All we need is something from another "Old Club" (with apologies to Wasps FC)
I thought they got it for £5m years ago ?
Happy Days!
