It’s that time of year again, and our thoughts turn to Italian red wine, antipasto, pasta in succulent sauce, stone-baked pizza, delicate braised meats, and that liquid fertiliser sold under the brand name of “Heineken”. Yes – Wasps are back in Europe, and we’re going with them!
Drunken Wasps Tours once more will be offering a semi-organised trip to the wilds of Northern Italy, to see Wasps’s Heineken Cup Pool fixture vs. Calvisano, on the weekend of Friday 29th October through until Sunday 31st October. To allow the trip to be a success despite the worst that ERC can throw at us, we have decided to fly out Friday afternoon from Stansted, gateway to the world, and leave Italy late Sunday evening. We expect the game to kick off on the Saturday, and if this is the case, we will organise something cultural on the Sunday. If the game is on Sunday, the culture will be drunk on the day before.
Coaches will be organised to pick up and drop off between airport and hotel, and to take us to the game and back. Places will be limited initially to 50, then to 72 if we reach the first number. These are the optimum coach loadings, so it is once again, first come, first served.
The Hotel Master in Brescia, last year’s accommodation, is welcoming us back. The rooms (bed and breakfast) are similarly priced, at approximately £50 per night single, £35 per night shared. Costs are charged in Euros so these are rough numbers.

Prices as of 16th July 2004 - £83 inc. taxes. You can do this by going to the Ryan Air website ( http://www.ryanair.com ) and clicking the "Book Now" text in the top right corner.
Coach transport will be provided to connect with these flights. There are alternate flights from Luton outbound, but return to Luton is much earlier, and a Sunday kick off would be missed.
To get on the trip, firstly book yourself on the flights above, or if you can’t manage this, I can do this for you. Secondly, confirm with me your rooming requirements. Thirdly, cough up the non-refundable deposit. An average person sharing will be charged something like £100 for rooms and coaches, so this is the deposit per person I am asking, given that you pay for the flight yourself. Once I have sorted out actual costs a month or two before departure, plus the cultural activity, I’ll issue a final invoice with a balance to pay. Remember, travel insurance should be taken out, your responsibility.
