Fatblokes 7's has been a mainstay of Craic denizens' calendars for over 5 years now. A great many of us look forwward to the weekend of silliness and rugby with great affection and count the days until it starts. There are always a few steps along the way that remind us that Fatblokes is coming and none more so than the unveiling of the new shirt.
The 2009 Flatulent Fairy Shirt
If you've ever wondered who those people are at the London Irish matches wearing pink shirts, they are 'The Flatulent Fairies' - the supporters rugby club. A loose knit collection of London Irish supporters who come together a few times each year to play rugby or take part in other social activities with an aim to raise funds for charity.
The main fund raising activity each year is the now infamous International Fat Bloke Sevens Tournament held this year on the weekend 17-19 July 2009.
Each year the players, and their supporters, invest in the unique Fairy shirt, the 2009 version pictured here. The shirt comes with the famous Fairy "plumptious" embroidered on the left breast. The London Irish supporter's logo on the sleeve and the fairy wings on the back.
Players must purchase a shirt if they wish to play in this year's event and non-players can also purchase shirts to show their support. All proceeds from shirt sales go to this years chosen charities, which this year are:
Cost per rugby shirt remains at £50 and shirts can be collected on the weekend of the "Fat Blokes", at the "shirt-faced" night, date to be decided, or they can be posted for £5 P+P.
Children's sizes are also available from 26"-34" chest cost for these sizes is £30.
This year there is also a black polo shirt (sizes S to 3 XL) with Fairy "Plumptious" embroidered on left breast, cost of polo is £15 (plus £2.50 P+P).
We have a 'Special Offer', if you wish to purchase both a rugby shirt and a polo shirt then the cost will only be £62.50 to get both items (£5.00 P+P). These must be ordered at the same time

No "FF" letters on the back? Thought it was a year for those.
I'll have one because I have to & am very glad that Griff's plan for a proper, fitted, pro-style number didn't come off, but stiull think my suggested design would've been horrible enough to have worked!

Holy Father objected at first on the basis that fairies, flatulent or otherwise were heathen and not befitting a man of the cloth however I persuaded his Holiness that they were chuntering cherubs in disguise

Can we put our names on the back?
There's places in Reading which'll do it for you.
I prefer the Tinks being in the same shirts as:
1) it makes us look like one big blob of pink when we're all together - if you look at some of the other well represented clubs at Fat Blokes (Wasps, Worcester etc) - it's brilliant to see so many folk in their club colours all together and then all mixed up* later in the evening.
2) there is only one manufacturing cost involved. Although the Tinks shirts raise money for charity as well, I think we lose out slightly on having two shirts made.
* 'all mixed up' - could mean all the wearers of the shirts from different clubs mingling amongst each other during the evening socials or the wearers of the shirts just being 'all mixed up' - we have photo's if anyone is still unsure

It's probably too late though... right?

The Tinkerbelles voted last year to have different playing shirts from the Fairies so as to mark their own identity. However we agreed that we would keep the same shirts each year so each Tinkerbelle would only ever have to buy one (until it wears out) leaving those who want to, financially able to buy a Fairies shirt each year and not feeling torn between the two, thus the fund raising for the Fairies can be supported by those Tinkerbelles who want to. In addition we also agreed that each Tinkerbelle who plays in the tournament will pay a playing fee and that will go straight into the Fairies fund raising pot. I hope that makes sense, it did in my head!
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me.
Best wishes

Is it pink?
Doesn't matter whether it's beer, cider, wine, whisky... although the occasional sip of water can be useful too.

PANS, you're forgetting that people ought to like a pint.

A pint of whisky?
I was denied this when offered a free drink on my birthday

And don't forget, Aitor, the skipper's supposed to get the first round in.
Especially if he's just won the 110th anniversary quiz prize

It seems a perfectly reasonable request to me! Mind you, I don't drink the stuff...
