London Irish v Leeds

Ok so 7 minutes before half time I reach across to LKR and say, “I was supposed to be writing the match report, pass me the paper. “ Never mind, I think, nobody will want to read about this so far and it must get better in the second half.
Well it didn’t!!
So instead of a detailed report (can’t face writing one) here is what I can find on Today’s game using my Twitter feeds.
Before kick off
Nick Kennedy (Protected tweet) - Come on you Irish! I get more nervous when I'm watching than when I'm playing!
LiRFC - Teams confirmed for the match, one change with Homer coming in for Elvis. Joseph is on the bench. Leeds as announced.
LiRFC - Stavros boys have entertained the crowd & the Fields has just been belted out- now lets get on with the rugby! Come on Irish!
LondonIrishNews - Identical weather to away game @ start of season. Glorious! Hope same result! Shame that the posh seats will be in the shade all game :) (JonR43 added (At least we could see or maybe that should be unfortunately we could see!)
First Half
LondonIrishNews - Homer starts in place of Elvis. 5 mins on clock and Malone slots first penalty 3-0
LondonIrishNews - Couple of big up and unders test Peter Hewat early. The ball went so high it came down with volcanic ash on it. All Irish so far.
LondonIrishNews - Penalty awarded out of Malone's range Homer steps up and just misses. Leeds head down field and easy penalty conceded 3-3
LondonIrishNews - Malone restores 3 point lead after 16 mins with penalty conceded at lineout. 6-3
LondonIrishNews - Poor call from Barnes! Penalty slotted by Thomas brings Leeds level 6-6. Barnes is not ref'ing ruck at all well
LondonIrishNews - Leeds defending well. Too many silly mistakes from Irish. Leeds convert another penalty to take the lead. 6-9
LondonIrishNews - Has the feel of a casual trng session. More mistakes turn over & try. Toby will need to break out the hairdryer speech at HT. 6-16
LiRFC - PeterHewat's try just before 1/2 time gives Irish a much needed boost. Score 16-13 to Leeds. More more needed for the win
Ugo Monye (protected tweet) - Gorgeous day down at Dorking RC festival (Jon R43 added Maybe we should have gone there!)
LondonIrishNews - Not sure how we went in behind at half time. Need to pull our fingers out 2nd half. 3 tries needed as a minimum. Come on Irish!
Second Half
LondonIrishNews - Another period of 10 mins constant Irish possession leads to no points and Malone throws an interception. Leeds try. 13-23.
LondonIrishNews - These conditions, in theory, made for us. Leeds defended well but I can't believe we are 10 pts down. Knock on count's been ridiculous.
LondonIrishNews - FT 13-23. If we play like that against Saints we are in trouble! Best thing about day? sun was shining so got to work on tan.
LondonIrishNews - On that performance I'd say Leeds have demonstrated they deserve to stay up. They fought well. Shame we handed them the game though.
LondonIrishNews - While Tigers, Sarries & Saints are all coming good at the business end of the season securing BP wins, we lose. Not a top 4 performa ...

Final thoughts
Gather that Toby was not impressed, don’t think I’ve ever seen him in the technical area before half time before.
Top 4 is now out of our hands but not impossible. At least the other results mean that we have our HC place secured for next year. Thank goodness as I’m not hopeful that the team at present can pick up many more points this season. Hopefully, come August, we will have a full squad when it all starts again…
Now on to this weeks Fantasy Rugby…. I predict a low scoring week!!
