Well it’s that time of year again!! The sight of the good ship ‘Plumptious’ rapidly coming into view is one that I know we all look forward to every year…….. The International Fat Bloke Sevens sponsored by CHP Consulting is again at Reading Abbey RFC in Caversham over the weekend of July 20-22nd 2012.
This year is our 10th Anniversary and what better way to spend a birthday than a weekend of top class rugby sevens and fun with friends new and old!!
We are hosting the largest tournament ever this year (That is to say the largest number of teams not the players combined weights!!) There will be 52 teams this time which is a massive amount of organisation and will lead to some very knackered people by the end of Saturday!!
Expect the Zider drinkers from Brizzle along with their trampoline/ladder/bouncy castle* delete as appropriate and probably the worlds largest rolling maul and plenty of beer and fruit based beverages for the ladies.
There is the return of the Chinese Takeaway on Saturday and plenty of other food available on both days.
There is a band on both Friday and Saturday night and also the ubiquitous Mr Eek and his travelling discotheque.
Our Charities this year are The Alexander Devine Childrens Hospice Service and the Matt Hampson Trust and expect to see some special guests on the Saturday.
Put the dates in the diary and we look forward to seeing you there.
Regards
Dave
The Flatulent Fairies
This year's captain of the Fairies is CreamCraicer. A message from him now follows:
Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your beers!
It’s that time of the year again! As the Premiership season nears its end its time for the proper rugby to begin. I’m delighted to be this year’s Fairies Captain but I can’t do it all on my own, I need players; any of you who have played in previous competitions will know what a cracking weekend it is and I hope to see you all again this year. I’m also hoping for some fresh new faces; I can say from personal experience it’s a great way to meet your fellow fans and it’s how I made many of me ‘Irish’ friends
So please, anyone who is interested please send me an email on Fairies2012@hotmail.co.uk with your name (and Craic name if applicable). This will be to get a rough idea of numbers, more information will be sent out nearer the time (including a possible piss up get together so new faces can meet old) Hope to see you all in July!

C'mon guys we definitely going to need more than 7 people. Please spread the word to anyone who you think might be interested.
Its just over a month away!!!
with one week to go to the big...some might say fat...event. I am delighted to announce that Mike Cousins ('Mr' Classy) as this years Fairies Captain of Vice!
cheffy We have four recruits from Supermarine coming to guest for us!!
Hmmmm...I think we've got 4 players from Supermarine playing for us as well...and I expect we're shorter of players than you (I think we have around 10 at the minute...).
And we're in a group where running around appears to be compulsory.....booooo.
Slightly OT - as a FB7 newcomer can I ask what the general beer principle is? Should we be bringing loads of our own or is the correct etiquette to be funding Reading Abbey's bar to thank them for hosting us?
BTW what are the tournament subs for the Fairies? Want to make sure I bring enough money to pay up & then have some BBQ/Beer vouchers left over, but not so much I fill the house with all manner of things bought from the stalls!
Faugh-a-Ballagh!
"Our prayer is 'God save Ireland' and pour blessings on her name!"
I think the Cheffys have the bulk of what we have as stock (left over from last year) so brilliant - essentially you sit by some shirts and sell 'em - people give you stuff for free and you sell that too.
It all goes to charidee - but we don't like to talk about it ...
I'll try to remember to bring one I've got down - an old ref's shirt (Possible Ash's? He's an Old Ref....) from something like the powergen Cup - Sat in my wardrobe somewhere if I can find it.
