Thanks for the memories 2012 continues with installment 4 - Brian Blaney.
Brian is moving on having spent two season with us – being up against David Paice and James Buckland for selection has meant that Brian’s opportunities with have been fairly limited, however he has proved himself when called upon, including a couple of try-scoring Man of The Match performances. Thanks Brian and good luck for the future.

Thanks for the memories Brian........
I heard that BB has been seen around the club, is he being offered a new contract? Maybe short term.
Buckland is injured from last season and with Paicey in the EPS does that limit some of his game time?
We could be a bit short at Hooker and it would make sense

Think that is what Shaun Malton has been signed for. Also, Gerard Ellis is being looked at as a Hooker for us.
Anyhow, best of luck in the future Brian!

Brian and Bob Casey were at a meet the players event at The Gateway in Reading at the end of the 2010/2011 season and I think Brian Blaney said he had decided to retire when he got the offer to play at London Irish for a couple of seasons.
He seemed very laid back about rugby as a career and I got the impression that he saw the time at London Irish as an end of career bonus.

Brian is laid back. (full stop) but he is not old and was not at Irish as a career ending jaunt. I think that Toby did not rate him,but he might just get another shot !

Maybe a bit premature as he is back in the squad at the moment as James Buckland out for a few months!
