NOT A Happy Hunting Ground

Lets face it Irish fans, yesterday was torrid. For me I found it heart breaking being tuned into BBC Radio Berkshire and hearing my beloved Irish being dominated by the Exeter Chiefs.

Everybody has a bad day so let's not be too down, we have beaten Saracens (away), Wasps (away), narrowly lost to Leicester when we could have won the game and finally got shown how prolific the Chiefs are when they are in front of a packed Sandy Park. This little stint of the Premiership has been quite successful. The maximum amount of points we could've collected where 16 and we claimed 7 of them. Not bad and is certainly better than Worcester.

Brian said ahead of the Exeter trip that we need one final push from the boys and sadly it was probably one trip too many for us. This final push didn't happen. Our defence was probably the strong point of the visit to Exeter from what I heard and have seen from the highlights Exeter could have had a try bonus point. The players I feel showed spirit if they didn't show their skill, for the second Exeter try, Lewington tried his best to stop it and in the circumstances of the game was brave even if it wasn't going to effect the outcome. Individuals didn't turn up against Exeter and that is the reason we scored no points but the team showed heart and desire and that is the reason why we only conceded 18 point. Sounds stupid but is actual sports physiology.

Darren Allinson had a bad St Davids day. He was on the end of a tip tackle that should have been a red, you watch the tackle on the highlights and he drops him not places him down. RED CARD. Then he was yellow carded for...I would imagine it was for obstructing at the ruck but it was not obvious. Lets face it yesterday really was a terrible day, there really was no rub of the green on the guys.

Once again, this was the end of a very tough run of games for Irish and although it ended on a sour note in Devon it really has been a successful spell for us. We now have a few weeks break and I'm sure that we'll bounce back at the Paddies Day party and once again show the Premiership than we are not to be messed with!
