The LISC Craic Team at the Henley Sevens

This years Craic Team invasion of Henley looks set to surpass what many agree was one of the best days out we had last year. More will follow but here is some initial information. Time to get a roll call going.

LISC Craic Team hit Henley

Those of you who were there last year do not need me to tell you what an enjoyable day it was. What started off as an idea that a few of us should gather by the river to combine a picnic and barbeque with some rugby turned into a major event. Over sixty people joined us, this was despite the fact that LI were not playing, indeed they had a pre-season friendly against Bracknell the same day. For those who were not there, the Henley Craic Report from last season will give you some idea of how special the day was.

This year promises to be even better. In addition to the main Henley Sevens tournament itself there will be the inaugural supporters' tournament, the 'Fat Bloke Sevens'. It was at Henley last year that this site was christened 'The Craic' and it was also there that Alice was conceived. We will therefore have a double birthday celebration that weekend. 

For those who don't know it the Henley International Sevens is a well established and highly respected fixture in the sevens calendar. London Irish will not have a team entered, there is however LI interest in the shape of the Marauders, managed by no less than our very own Torbs. With the tournament being on a Sunday this year you may wish to consider taking the Monday off and/or staying the night in Henley. Should you wish to camp there is no problem with putting a tent up in the field by the river. I would however advise anyone considering this option to erect their tents before rather than after embarking on a fifteen hour drinking session.

As usual this is a bring your own booze gathering. You all know the score on that part. I have never yet been to an LI gathering where shortage of alcoholic refreshment has been an issue.

As with last year the Willy and the Six Tits catering company will be in action. We will again charge £10 which will cover, lunch and dinner with any surplus going to a worthy cause. We won't be doing breakfast this year but plan to start lunch early, somewhere around 11.30. Unlike last year we are going to ask that this is pre-paid. OxonRob is acting as banker in this respect, cheques, together with names of those in your party who are attending, should be sent to Robin Clive, 68 High Street, Dorchester, Oxon OX10 7HN. Please note, logistics dictate that we must know in advance how many we are feeding, you will not be able to simply turn up on the day and be fed.

The numbers we can feed may also be an issue. Realistically the maximum we can cope with is a hundred. To this end we will be giving priority to those who were there last year followed by other London Irish supporters. If we can manage more on top of that we'll open things up to a wider audience. It should be stressed here that everyone is welcome to join the party, we just can't guarantee to feed you.
