The Craic is the top site on Spornetwork for the first time. Henley, with the Fat Bloke sevens looks set to be a huge event. Socially, things are starting to get busier.

An Ed’s Diary – 31st July 2003

We are going to be the top site in Sportnetwork this month. With just todays figures to be added we are 10k ahead of our nearest rival. I put together a story about what we have achieved in the last year. Must say that I feel rather pleased having pulled the figures together. In terms of hits we’re 87% up on the same quartile last year we’ve also managed 290 stories in the last 12 months.

Today I round off the ‘Meet the Family’ series with Dutch_Bird, she wanted to be the last one in the series. This series has worked really well, so much so that it has been taken up by two of the other sites. I only hope that what I am writing now, this diary series, will do the trick next summer.

Things are livening up on the board as the pre-season social activities start to kick in. Saturday sees a LISC barbeque at Sunbury. For some this event is being proceeded by a session at the Allied Arms coupled with drum tuning and some attempt at music by Eek and Ken.

The following weekend sees Henley, I’ve eventually got my head round the numbers, we currently stand at 98 for the barbeque. Eek’s fat bloke sevens tournament looks like it is going to be a runaway success, he now has fourteen teams entered. Between the two events it now looks as if we’ll be bringing 300 or so people to Henley that weekend. It’s going to be quite a party, I’m really looking forward to it.

Curious post by Mrs Goz under the subject, ‘London Irish Supporters’. Someone in the club has been hurt by something they have read on the board. She won’t say who or what, just asks that we are sensitive. This sparks a debate about people’s right to express an opinion, etc.

Gus Pichot has posted an emotional farewell on the Bristol board. A couple of Bath supporters have responded along the lines of ‘Isn’t he laying it on a bit thick’. This prompts another spat between ourselves and them. I’m not yet too worried about this but am aware that things may degenerate into a soccer-type slanging match. Must keep an eye on things.
