On top of the world Ma!
Top of the world

Whilst most of us were enjoying the Saint Patrick’s Party, 3 London Irish supporters were in Tanzania climbing Mount Meru (4562m) as part of their high-altitude acclimatisation.
Pete, Nigel and Ben were part of a group of 4 who decided to spend their Easter break climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m). Unfortunately the trip organiser fell ill and was unable to participate in the climb but, as you can see from the picture, the others all made it to the top. They started the final summit assault at around midnight of the 5th day of the climb and reached the top at 7.10am the next morning (6th April) in snowy conditions. They recorded their hard-earned success with a photo showing their London Irish support! Congratulations to them all, we’re very proud of them.
After their descent, they had a couple of days relaxing on safari before returning in time for the Bath game.
N.B. The wig has remained in a small part of Africa on the head of their mountain guide (as a much treasured gift)!
