Kenya Harlequins Update 12/08

Kenya Harlequin failed in their bid to win the Enterprise Cup. In a repeat of the 1988 final, most faithful expected a similar result (win) especially with the fine form the team has been displaying.

However, total dominance, control of play and territorial advantage apparently were not enough to win the game as we appeared gun shy, not able to convert to points. Mwamba on the other hand breached the Quins 22m line thrice and scored three tries, two converted against Quins 3 tries, one converted for a final score of 19-17 in Mwamba's favor. For the loyalists, maybe it was the 3 "held up" tries that were the difference. Others would differ... Try scorers for Quins were Eric Osinde, Allan Onyango and Thomas Lebreton. Jude Thumbi had one conversion. I don't think anyone expected him to clinch the one after the buzzer to force the draw and extra time.

All in all the lads displayed fantastic rugby and the trophy would have crowned the season and the hard work they had put in.

The season now takes a short break as we go into the 7-a-side season, beginning with the KRFU sevens on September 16th.
