By Chris Munton

Stop Press: Phil Vickery - The Raging Bull himself will be riding the complete event and has persuaded Ieuan Evans to join him.
After raising well over a £100K for the Charities: ‘Help
for Heroes’, ‘The RFU Injured Players Foundation’ and the ‘RPA Benevolent
Fund’, the Great British Bike Ride, from Lands End to Twickenham
Stadium has now been confirmed again for 2011. This hugely successful event
is co-organised by Quinssa & HPA member Chris Munton and will now take
place between July 5th and July 9th.
Following it’s hugely successful launch last
year, the Event goes from strength to strength with TNT joining as the new
title sponsor coupled with the support of Wooden Spoon. The arrival
at Twickenham now coincides with the annual Middlesex Charity 7’s and is
planned to form an integral element of the 7’s for a few years.
Event Ambassador for this year, John Inverdale,
himself a keen cyclist, will be lining up a team of celebrity rugby
players and, subject to his BBC duties will be riding himself.
Full details can be found on the website: www.greatbritishbikeride.com and if you do visit the site, check out the Rider feedback
from last year – everybody had a really great time. With only 200
full event places available, and over 100 riders from last year keen to
participate, don’t delay in registering. Daily stage riders are also
welcome and the very ‘manageable’ Day 4 ride from Winchester RFC to Esher
RFC is suitable for everybody after appropriate training and preparation.
