Meet the Director of Rugby - 21 February 2012 - TONIGHT
By Quinssa February 21 2012
Quinssa is delighted to announce the latest in its “Meet the ...” series, this time with Conor O’Shea. The event will be held in the Debenture Bar at the Twickenham Stoop on Tuesday 21 February at 7:30pm.
We’ll be able to benefit from Conor’s thoughts on the two cup competitions as well as his reflections on Quins’ progress in the Aviva Premiership so far. Half way through the 6 Nations’ championship, we’ll be able also to look at how Quins’ international players are doing.
The format of the evening will be a short video presentation from Conor followed by a Q&A session. David Ellis will be there to talk to answer questions too.
As this will be a very popular session (our last two “Meet the ....” events each had audiences of over 100) please email john@quinssa.org.uk to book your places. As always, entry is free to Quinssa members, £3 for non-members and we will have a raffle in aid of the Quinssa Academy fund (currently standing at > £2,000).
There will be a cash bar and doors open at 7pm – get there early to get a drink & a good seat! And don’t forget to let us know you’re coming: john@quinssa.org.uk

A very interesting and informative evening. A good insight into the day to day work of a DoR and the thought processes involved. Some good Q's from the audience too.
My first "Meet the..." enjoyed the occasion immensley, as stated by GQG it provided an excellent insight into the club and its vision. I even got to ask a question towards the end. I will be attending future events and would like to thank the QUINSSA committee for their work and organisation.
David Ellis was a surpise guest and spoke about plans to 'shake-up' business to make it more customer focussed, improve match day expereince etc and leverage Quins brand to make club profitable and keep rugby side competitive...
He had a graph projecting income, and there was a big jump into profitability in about 2013/2014 which when he presented to players yesterday, Ugo flippantly pointed out the fact it coincided with when Nev's contract expired..
The other point that was made that really stuck with me is the focus on the team.
CoS was very passionate about the very special group they are, who will only get better. The current squad including Academy guys are where the investment lies. Don't expect a raft of big name signings, as he was very clear that the future lies within the current 48 individuals.
Plus to p*ss a few posters off here, he rates Rory Clegg VERY VERY highly!
And thanks to the generosity of attendees, our raffle raised £365 for the Quinssa Academy fund, which all goes to enable Academy boys do things they wouldn't otherwise be able to do (rugby-related!!!).
Very impressed with CoS's instant recall of details from matches I had consigned to history. Clearly very focussed.
Also loved the insight into the half-time routine: 3.5 mins team talk with phsychologist, 30s Psych report to coaches, 5 mins separate analysis for forwards/backs, quick team discussion, Back out...
