Quins Destroyed by Exeter

Final score 42-25 !! Exeter score 5 tries against Quins !! Not so much a banana skin as a whole truck full of the best yellow organic material that money can buy. The game belonged to Exeter from the off.

Exeter had all the possession for the first 30 minutes or so of the first half and I am sure Exeter felt aggrieved that they went in at 16-18 down.

It would be impossible to disagree with them.

Exeter played in what has been of late, the classical Quins style, ball in hand, attacking at all times and from anywhere.

Quins didn’t play at all.

Against the run of play NeV charged down a kick and scored and in the last play of the first half Quins scored with what was their first real attacking move of the game.

At half time Quins had also scored 2 tries to Exeter’s 1 so it appeared that we were well and truly back in the game .

Half Time   Quins 18 Exeter 16

Contemplating the game at half time a win seemed reasonable, a bonus point loss the worst that could happen, a loss with no bonus point seemed out of the question.

However, disaster struck 5 minutes into the second half.

Exeter score a try and NeV has to go off to be replaced by Rory Clegg.

At this point a pall of gloom settled over this spectator but Clegg converts a penalty.

After another good period of play from Exeter, and a correspondingly poor period from Quins, Rory Clegg intercepts and Karl D scores under the posts – all is not lost - but Oh yes it is !

Exeter quickly score three more tries, and they deserve them !

Final Score Exeter 42 Quins 25

Have Quins lost their pride and passion?

What has happened to their Commitment  ?

Such a defeat for the Champions is the culmination of a worrying chain of events – starting at the London Double header.

This loss to Exeter was always a possibility but I am sure we all felt that the sheer quality of the team would carry us through, and so it should of done.

But it didnt

It would be easy to criticise individuals but today was a team failure and it would be uncharitable to focus on individuals.

We know we have weaknesses but it is now up to the team and the squad to get its head together and sort out the problem.

I really cant think of a good thing to say about Quins game today.

We don’t even have the weather or the ref to blame.

Quins, cut the crap and get on with the game.

None of my comments should take away any thing from a genuinely fine performance from a very good Exeter side. Their performance will, I am sure be one of the high lights of their season, particularly if we get our mojo back !

I’m sure that it was a very quiet bus ride home and that CoS will have one or two things to say on Monday

Today the Game and History belong to Exeter.

Well done Exeter

Excellent Rodders. At least you have given your candid and knowledgeable opinion. Thank you, I appreciate that. Long live Quins, long live opinion and deserved criticism.

I hope to see a turnaround v Biarritz!

Today saw a game that will be talked about for some time.10 minutes into the second half I wouldn't have liked to have put money on it at all, your guys were providing the answers for everything we threw at them. Neither team deserved to lose today so we'll take the win on the home advantage and the 16th man I guess?

Brilliant day and well done to the Quins for a bl***y good show but you can't try and out sing the Chiefs Tribe at Sandy Park.

Here's to many more encounters though folks (Sm128)

I found it very difficult to contain my misery at seeing such a good team play with such a lack of all the qualities they have exhibited so many times - so frustrating
I also wanted to post as early as possible because it was obvious that there is going to be a lot of reaction and I wanted this report to be as objective as possible but without rancour - this collapse was a team issue not a personality issue

on on quins

Clearly Exeter deserved to win, we didnt want to lose and I hope this a lesson that will have a huge impact on the squad.
Like all clubs we want to win but the fundamental goal of any team is to constantly realise their potential- today Quins didn't

on on quins

Totally outplayed by a team who played our game. Great credit to EXeter but quite worrying that the only way we know is to keep high tempo whatever is happanaing. Today I actually thought it was in our interest to slow the game down at times in the last quarter and we couldn't change the game plan.

I'd need to watch a vidoe to check why but Exeter found far too much space out wide,

Very poor day at the office. Hopper was out best player even thought he tried too harad near the end a ann got isolated at times but he showed real desire.

Good stuff Rodders. Exactly how I felt at the game. I could not believe a) we were winning at half time or b) we could play worse in the second half. We were abject in every aspect of the game. Exeter played hard expansive rugby with an intensity that we could not match.

Reality check day for Quins.

Gents, as this seems to be about the only sane thread about the game on here at the moment can someone please do a marks out of 10 for the players or something?

Just curious to know if any of the team went well or if they were all dire?

I listened to the match on the radio. I was very confused because it seemed like every time Exeter got the ball, the next thing I heard they were on our 5 metre line. The next thing after that they had a try!

I see the full match is up on premiershiprugby.tv, am off to watch that before commenting further!

I was at the game yesterday and had no complaints at all. There's a lot of posts on the forum today blaming certain players and saying how badly we played, but I would just like to point out as well that Exeter Chiefs were absolutely superb and they fully deserved their win and I will take nothing away from their performance.

I thought the fans were fantastic, all bar one bald headed thug in the East Stand South Terrace who was shouting abuse at Nev and both sets of fans, but the stewards dealt with that very quickly so a lot of credit to them too.

The only complaint that I can give is the lack of apple sauce in my Hog Roast, I'm sure I'll get over that though smiling smiley
