Agonising Defeat

Quins have won plenty of games with last ditch scores so you have to take the rough with the smooth when the tables are  turned.

Nolann Le Garrec kicked the late penalty to win the game 30-29. TV coverage showd that Quins were unlucky not to win penalties of their own leading up to the score, which came when pressure had put three Racing players in the bin. Entertaining stuff ... for neutrals.

With Marcus Smith back, and in superb form as he made several breaks, Quins had come back from a poor start as Racing scored three tries through Gael Fickou, Kitione Kamikamica and Francis Saili.

Quins then  replied  through Danny Care, two superb finishes from Cadan Murley tries and a penalty try.

They wer  in the driving seat  in the closing stages as the French side wilted. The result was that Donovan Taofifenua and Eddy ben Arous went to the bin followed by Finn Russell for a deliberate knock-on as Joe Marchant looked a certain scorer.

The penalty try looked to be the match winner. However, restarts were poor all afternoon and this one led to the winning penalty.

Not the end of the world for seventh placed Quins  - as long as Quins beat the Sharks at home in the final Pool A this weekend. This will be another cracking game.
