Bath Pull The Plug

Quins came out second best as Bath won the Big Summer bash at Twickers 45-35. Massively entertaining stuff for the neutral but the defeat leaves Quins in seventh place with just one game to go.

As Tabai Matson said after the game conceding half a dozen tries was not what he expected: "They took their opportunities, we gave them some opportunities and they took them quite convincingly.

"I think it hurts more because it was our last home game and it's a bit of a marquee event, so it's gutting."

Bath took the lead when Tom  Dunn was forced over with Cadan Murely  getting Quins' first - thereby taking over as tbe league's top try scorer spot. Fourteen so far.

Nip and tuck all afternoon with Luke Wallace finishing off a sharp backs move, but then two sin-bins for  Andre Esterhuizen (high tackle) and Murley (deliberate knock-on) gave Bath a big advantage.

They did score through GJ van Velze and Lawrence with Marcus Smith keeping the "home" side in contention at 21-24 at oranges.

Lewis Gjaltema came off the bench to put Quins ahead from close range (above), but it  was Bath who reacted with Annett from a maul and then Joe Cokanasiga bursting through.

Back came Quins with  Alex Dombrandt going over from close range only for Bath to clinch things with the try of the game as Ojomoh finished off a great move.

Phew.
