Quins Squeeze Through

A gritty win at Tigers cliinched European Champions Cup rugby next season for Quins. The season ends with a disappointing sixth place finish but that was forgotten as the 20-17 win ended the seasono on a high note.

Quins were undoubtedly helped by the red card for Chris Ashton in a tight second half. 

The mercurial winger retires this season - one the players you loved to hate but would dearly love on your wing. He's had quite some career and the red card he received just before half-time, for a high tackle on Cadan Murley, was not his first. It could mean he will miss the play-offs with Tigers finishing third - hopefully it may be rescinded.

Quins were leading before the sending off. Tigers collapsed a driving maul and the penalty try was awarded with Cameron Henderson off to the bin.

Tigers came back with a catch and drive from their skipper Montoya,  but Quins' lead was restored courtesy of a break from  Louis Lynagh whose pass allowed Murley to walk in.

It was 17-7 at the break and, despite being up against 14 men, Quins could only add a second half penalty. Tigers reduced that lead to just three points with a late try from Tommy Refell but Quins held outv to celebrate that important sixth place finish.
