Last Match for the A Team: Bath A

On Tuesday evening at Bath, the 2nd XV will play their last match of this season’s campaign knowing that they have almost certainly lost the opportunity to defend their title against Leicester Tigers.

It was a very close run thing, but the loss by a very young Academy team against Wasps at Aldershot and an injury time try conceded in the return fixture last month left Wasps with a cushion which is likely to see them progress to the final.  Wasps nearly lost it when they played London Irish at Sunbury last week, scraping home 27-28 but scoring four tries in the process and five league points.

The present positions are as follows:

P W D L Points
London Wasps 9 8 0 1 41
NEC Harlequins 9 8 0 1 39

So Harlequins play Bath, whom they should beat easily with a try bonus point if previous meetings results are a guide.   Wasps play Saracens who have never been the strongest team in the league and who have lost 7 out of 8 games in the league to date.

This may be the last opportunity to see some of our excellent young players, since, as always, the end of season exodus may see some of them leave for pastures new.
