Saints STH Forum - Non Match day Questions
By SSC
February 27 2013
Having agreed with Barry Forrestal - these are the questions from the SSC
| 1 | Why was the Open Day just prior to the start of the season stopped and are there any plans to re-instate it? |
2 | Has there been any progress on the new stand? |
3 |
One of the biggest gripes is lack of communication - despite the efforts of Chris Wearmouth etc. There have been suggestions of asking for Supporters representatives on the board or at key meetings, but we feel that this would be inappropriate. The main area we feel that can be improved is the official website. It's not user friendly, is difficult to navigate around and does not get updated frequently or quickly enough. In a word 'Clunky'. Can the website be improved to provide more up to the minute, relevant information? |

Can Saints introduce a simple reward scheme for loyalty of continuous ST membership? Perhaps in a similar fashion to Employers rewarding Employees for continuous service with an extra days holiday. For example: A free ticket to an Away game for 5 years … Or a free Shirt for 10 years. This would encourage STH to stay loyal through the lean seasons for fear of losing their 'service' .10% discount on a keyring or car-sticker is not enough! |

As season ticket holders we are Supporters of Northampton Saints. It can often feel that we are looked upon merely as customers. Does the Club have a distinction between customer and Supporter and what does the Club feel the distinction means? |
| 6 |
The Club puts on many functions during the year, usually at a high premium. Can the Club do more for the ordinary Supporter, such as a return of 'Why the whistle went', which does not cost an arm and a leg to attend? Even town centre pubs can put on a curry night, including a drink, for less than £10... |

Do The Directors undertake regular performance appraisal of its Executive Directors? Has that process identified any performance gaps and training needs? Have those training needs been addressed? |
| 8 |
In their respective years spent in post, how much time has been spent by the Chief Executive, Commercial Director and Director of Rugby in off-the job training and personal development? |
| 9 |
Do any of the Executive Directors have any professional mentors? If not, would the Club consider seeking out such a resource? |
| 10 |
Probably covered by the Matchday experience, but relevant for all times. The general pricing of everything in the Club seems very excessive, from beer to merchandise. Whilst we know that the Club is a commercial venture, we feel that the supporters are being exploited. Comparing prices around the Premiership Clubs, we are one of most expensive in all aspects. In light of the current economic climate, are there any plans to address this? If not, why not? |

None of them can be answered in one word ie yes/no.
If I may disagree. Questions 7,8 and 9 can and that is not the outcome that the poser of the questions may have intended.
7 Do The Directors undertake regular performance appraisal of its Executive Directors? Has that process identified any performance gaps and training needs? Have those training needs been addressed?
a) YES
b) NO
8 In their respective years spent in post, how much time has been spent by the Chief Executive, Commercial Director and Director of Rugby in off-the job training and personal development?
A (possiby 2 weeks a year)
9 Do any of the Executive Directors have any professional mentors? If not, would the Club consider seeking out such a resource?
A YES
My point is that this is how the panel might answer and then move on.

Could you slip in a request for the return of the Open Day please. Great for children and grandchidren, the future supporters.
I think that's covered in Question 1, John.

Appreciate that I missed putting my questions forward as I dont visit the Offy site much but I had assumed from comments on here that this was a big issue for many supporters.
Is there a reason for this. If not I hipe it gets asked as one of the open questions as I cannot be there to do it myself.

Unquote.
There's far too much "in yer face" video clips & large font moving adverts which makes the navigation uncomfortable
I'e just printed off all thirty questions. What a lot of work has been done.
If we hoped for 30 mins or so ''open forum'' after the questions have been addressed and we hoped to wrap up by 11.00 then - allowing for a fifteen minute mid talk break- that means questions will need to be addressed within an average of six and a half minutes. Thats if my maths is right.
Therefore -if we are to have time to debate the tougher issues -we shall need to be circumspect with our use of time on the lesser issues(if there are any !).
Thats a tough old job for the chairman of the meeting.
This is, I hope, just the start of the process to reconnect the club and the supporters.

Also like to say what a good job the organising team have done in pulling together and phrasing all these questions so well. Lot of hard work and thought - highly appreciated.

Agree - I hope no one expects everything to be resolved and emerge into a land of milk and honey as we break up.
Exactly Tim it is (hopefully) the start of a dialogue between us and our club both parties need honesty, integrity and the ability to listen and change some things
