A weekend of European Rugby beckons, but as the Saints failed to qualify for the knockout stages we have no direct interest – which means that there’s no match preview for you to read. Instead, here’s a quiz to keep you occupied
Connections Quiz No.1 by Sarge
Can you explain the connections between the items within each of the ten lists below?
Some of them should be fairly easy, but it may take a meeting of minds to come up with the solutions to the rest. If you can’t piece together all the parts for each question post your thoughts on here to see if anyone else can finish them off.
If any remain unanswered by Tuesday evening I will put you out of your misery.
For example, what is the connection between Paul Grayson, The Cobblers and The Beatles?
The answer is Accrington Stanley: Grays used to play for them; the Cobblers currently play against them in Division 2; and in Northampton it’s also the name of a long-standing Beatles tribute band (who played in the Rodber Suite after the last home game of the 2011-2012 season).
So thinking caps on, here come the real questions…

1 Is monopoly sites I think. They all occupy the same spaces in different versions.

1) Sir Peter Scott's Slimbridge wildfowl conservancy took a leading role in saving the Nene (or Hawaian) Goose from extinction in the 1950's
2) The Nene (by then called the 'Neen') flows past the front door of Mr Elgood's Heaven
3) Wikpedia reminds me that this is close to / if not actually the source of the mighty River Nene

Bonso is correct with No.1. Franklin's Gardens appears in the Northampton version of Monopoly. Northumberland Avenue occupies the same square in the standard UK edition, and Virginia Avenue was in the same square in the 1st USA edition.
Paul Flatt has two out of three correct for No.6. You need to find another connection for Peter Scott.
Guildford Saint has the correct link to No.4 but would you like to provide the explanation.
Our man from Surrey also has No.8 correct, the highest points being Ben Nevis (Scotland), Snowden (Wales), Scafell Pike (England) and Slieve Donard (Northern Ireland).
Paul Flatt has two out of three correct for No.6. You need to find another connection for Peter Scott.
Guildford Saint has the correct link to No.4 but would you like to provide the explanation.

OK, so the obvious for 9 is they are all football grounds that have had rugby teams as tenants (Cardiff City now excluded), but is there something more? Cup games or something?

Sorry about the lack of explanation:
1 - we have the double helix sculpture dedicated to Crick on Abington Street - one of the greatest scientists of all time, born in Northampton and pupil at Northampton Grammar.
2 - the tails side of the 2003 £2 coin was minted with a picture of a model of the structure of DNA on it to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the double helix structure in 1953.
3 - The Eagle in Cambridge was where it was first announced that the discovery had been made.

Good point Sarge... so are they all grounds typically associated with sports other than rugby union that have had rugby union matches (or tenants) at them?

Correct. Between 1933-39 Peter Scott lived in the lighthouse at Sutton Bridge, where the Nene exits into the Wash.
