While the supporters worry and fuss over conspiracy theories and best matchups for the Aviva play offs - Sarge has produced another connections quiz to take your minds of not having a game this weekend.(it looks to be rather tough!)
Connections Quiz No.2 by Sarge
Another weekend with no Saints action, so here’s another quiz to while away the time. What is the connection between the items within each of these lists, and what are the explanations for that connection?
As before, it may take a meeting of minds to come up with the solutions to some of them. If you can’t piece together all the parts for each question post your thoughts on here to see if anyone else can finish them off.
If any remain unanswered by Tuesday evening I will provide the solution.

Q.9 The answer is Mercury - Messenger of the Roman Gods, Mercury Communications was a subsidiary company of cable & Wireless and mercury was used in early lighthouses to float the lens on.

No.1: Brian B has the first and last parts correct. I'd never heard of the poet David Scott so you will need to come up with anothe connection.

Scott flew on Apollo 15 whose call sign was Endeavour.

That's No.1 ticked off, well done BrianB.
Apollo 15 used the British spelling of the word instead of the US spelling as it was named in tribute to Cook's ship. The same is also true of the Endeavour space shuttle.

Everest, Victoria Falls and Sydney (well, the Opera House) are all UNESCO World Heritage sites... whether that's what you want or not, I don't know!

Is 5 something to do with being useless? I know the Edge Hill tunnels were dug by an eccentric chap for no apparent reason, never heard of the other two though.

No.5: Told you that a meeting of minds might be necessary. The C block partnership of Smurf and Wee Jim has cracked it. All three basically came into existance to provide employment when there was a shortage of work in the locality.

Just to keep you on your toes here's a bonus question brought forward from Connections quiz No.1...
Snowdon, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Slieve Donard were identified as being the highest mountains in each of the four countries of the UK. Between 1975-2010 what COYS connection do they have?

Could it be their geographical spread?
Everest is highest mountain, but also probably biggest in terms of acreage.
Likewise, Victoria Falls cover huge territory and Sydney, as I found out last year, seems to go on for ever, even though one side is bounded by the sea...

They were named after Sir George Everest, Queen Victoria and Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney – none of whom saw the locations that bear their names. Porobaly true to say that Queen Victoria didn't see any of the locations that bear her name outside of the British Isles.
And the bonus question about Snowdon, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Slieve Donard - the COYS conenction is that I have walked up all of them.
As I won't be around for most of the Euro Finals weekend there will be no quiz from me that week. If anyone else wants to set one contact the editors.
