From twitter - Saints in tier 2 with Toulon, Ospreys and Munster - can't draw any of them.

I was wishing Bordeaux!... but no bloody Scarlets again.. no disrespect to them... and Racing

we got the weakest Tier 1 team we could have got, but Glasgow will be hard to beat

considering only had Toulouse or Racing.. think Racing probably the harder of the 2 and Scarlets arent the easiest of team we could have got out of pool 4, but not the hardest (if I understood the draw correctly!)

Sarrie should be happy this year

If we are good enough to beat Racing at least once this time around we might get through on top , if not then a runner up slot might be available with three to come from pools 1-4, I cannot see two teams coming out of the death pool number five.

Disappointing. I was hoping for any French team but Racing and preferably two (Bordeaux would have been so good). Even Stade with their swanky new stadium would have been worth a trip to Paris. Based on last year's experience I'll probably not go to Racing again, feels like the stadium has scarcely been improved since Harold Abraham's day.

On the plus side, at least we've avoided another Premiership team.

I suppose half the English teams can be reasonably satisfied with their groups.... Given that we've drawn Racing it'd be nice if we can do the double over them as recompense for last season. And another opportunity for everyone to go 'Mooooooooooooooooooj'.

It'll be nice for Tiny to get a run out at Allianz. Or Wemberley.

Depending on when we play RM away might their new stadium be ready?

Otherwise a very disappointing draw from a travel perspective.

Mrs SC had said she has never been to Glasgow. Suspect that won't change 😉

Well I think that is ok.

Will be going to Glasgow as not been before.

Pool 4 and 5 look far worse than ours, I would expect us to qualify for the knockouts really

Racings new "Arena" is due for completion in December 2016, so no!

A trip to Glasgow is well worth doing SC. Fascinating city with some great bars and restaurants, good choice of hotels, interesting history and only an hour on the Squeezyjet from Luton or Gatwick, even less from Brum.

Combine it with a wee trip to the Highlands.....

Beats Lllllllllllllannellllllli hands down!

Crumbs, pool 5 looks a bit tasty. Ours could have been worse. North gets a chance to single-handedly knock out another Welsh team and the rest will have to cope with Racing again.

Could have been better (much better from a travel POV) but could have been a whole lot worse. We'll need to put in 6 good performances to progress, that's for sure

Church's Stand, Block R, at the back noisily making lots of noise

how many years now have Tigers drawn Treviso (or Zebre or something Italian)? Not grumbling tho, as Scarlets next best thing (from qualification point of view). But, like most on here, VERY disappointing from travel in/to France perspective.

Have a feeling Sarries might find their competition quite tough.

That's a winnable pool.

Id view Racing as a fantastic stroke of luck. We get a 2nd chance to quickly restore some pride against Racing after our abject home performance against them last year. Courtney on Carter should be fun to watch.

Glasgow are worthy Pro 12 champions.

So it should make for an exciting pool. We could win it or we could be out of it after 2 games and end up 3rd or 4th.

Without meaning to be too pessimistic our record since the final v Leinster has been poor in Europe. Glasgow will be tough, we did not get a point v racing last season and Scarlets have beaten us at home. In the absence of an Italian whipping boy, unless we do sign a couple more really good players we may struggle. I don't think Sarries, Tigers or Bath will progress. Exeter could as a runner up.

This topic seems to be ignoring the fact that the competition is going to be squeezed in following the RWC. Clubs will be affected by the distance their countries go in the RWC, maybe not the multi French clubs Semi-finalists play 2 additional tough games and it was apparent how that affected the Welsh players in 2012/13 with the shorter turnaround to get back playing for their clubs. Additionally, with the reduction in numbers in the EPCR competition, the above will be affected even more than in 2012 with the higher standard in general. England were so poor in 2012 that it didn't have much of an effect, they seemed to spend more energy off the pitch than they did on.

As last season, on paper, the Saints have had a fortunate draw but at least once every season they hit a very low point on the pitch.
